How do I Apply?
Intending tertiary students wishing to be admitted to the Institute’s programmes are required to submit the following as part of their application:
1. From the attached application pack the Application Form, signed Privacy Act agreement form, Confidential Questionnaire form and if credit is being requested for previous study in the same area of study, then the Recognition of Prior Learning form along with supporting details of previous study.
2. You need three completed confidential referee forms (including a local minister and school principal or employer) posted directly to us by the referee, a hand-written personal essay of 500 words outlining reasons for seeking entry to the programme and a current Curriculum Vitae. NB Applicants for single papers on Restricted Enrolment need only submit the Application and Privacy Act forms.
Offer of Places
A panel from the academic staff will interview all applicants eligible for entry into a programme. Interviews will be carried out at BTI or by Skype and are intended to supplement evidence of character, academic achievement and motivation. The panel will recommend to the Academic Board the names of successful candidates for confirmation.
NB: For B.Ed. and B.Cg. programmes only, the early-bird application date is 15th October. Applications received by this date are guaranteed an interview and will be informed of the outcome at or shortly after the interview. Any applicants interviewed and put on our standby list prior to 30th October will be advised on that date of acceptance or otherwise. Applications for remaining places (if available) will be accepted until the intake is full.
Prior to an interview, applicants for the Early Childhood programme may be recommended to visit an Early Childhood centre and be able to talk about their experience there.
